What does a website actually cost?
$2,500 for a one-page Launch site, $4,500 for the five-to-seven-page Growth build — the one I recommend for most trades — and $7,500 for Dominate. Hosting and care is $149/mo. That's the whole list — no setup fees, no surprise line items. Half up front, and the balance only after you approve the finished site.
A free homepage draft? What's the catch?
The catch is on my side: I spend real hours on spec, and some drafts get ignored. I do it anyway because a finished design closes better than any sales pitch — and "one per county, per trade" keeps the free work finite. Your risk is two minutes of typing.
How long until I'm live?
Launch sites go live about a week after deposit; Growth takes two to three weeks. Your free homepage draft usually exists before you've committed to anything at all — that part takes days, not weeks.
Do I own the website, or do you?
You do. All of it. Your domain is registered in your name from day one — I won't build any other way. At final payment the site's files are yours. If you ever cancel hosting, I hand you a complete export, free, that runs on any standard web host. Compare that with Wix or Squarespace, where leaving means starting over from nothing.
I already have a website. Can you fix it instead?
Usually the honest answer is that a rebuild costs the same as a fix and works better. Send me your current site through the form — I'll tell you plainly which it needs, and the free draft will show you the difference rather than describe it.
All my work comes from referrals. Why would I need this?
Because referrals check you out too. When a happy customer passes your name along, the next thing that homeowner does is search for you — and what they find either confirms the recommendation or quietly kills it. A website doesn't replace word of mouth; it closes the jobs word of mouth starts.
Will I rank #1 on Google?
Anyone who promises you a ranking is lying to you — Google doesn't take orders from web designers. What I build is the mechanism rankings come from: fast pages, per-city and per-service content, structured data, and a tuned Google Business Profile. Then the monthly report shows you plainly what's happening: visits, calls, form fills. Mechanism and measurement — that I can promise.
Do I have to write anything or come up with ideas?
No. I pull the raw material from your reviews, your license record, and one short conversation — then write every page in your customers' own language. Your total time in the whole process is about an hour, and you approve every word before launch.
What about photos? Mine are all on my phone.
Phone photos of real jobs beat stock photos of models in hard hats, every time. I'll tell you exactly which shots to send (and which angles to grab on your next job), then handle the editing and layout. Real work, well presented, is the most convincing thing on any contractor's site.
What exactly does the $149/mo cover?
Hosting, SSL certificate, daily backups, security monitoring, and small content updates when you need them — new photos, a price change, a holiday notice. Plus the monthly plain-English report of what the site produced. Month-to-month, cancel anytime, no contract.
Can I make changes to the site myself?
Most clients don't want to — that's what the care plan's content updates are for, and asking me is faster than learning an editor. But it's your site: at final payment you have every file, and any change you want to make (or have anyone make) is yours to make. No lock-in, technical or otherwise.
You're one person. What if you get hit by a bus?
Fair question, and it's exactly why everything is built the way it is: your domain is in your name, your site is standard, portable code with no proprietary system behind it, and you hold a full export. Any web developer in the county could pick it up tomorrow. One-person studio, zero-person dependency.
Do you also run Google Ads or sell leads?
No. I build and maintain the thing your marketing points at — the site that turns attention into booked jobs. No retainers, no ad budgets, no lead reselling. If you want ads later, your site will be ready for them, and I'll tell you honestly whether they're worth it for your trade.
Do you use AI to build the sites?
Yes — openly, the way your best crew uses power tools. AI speeds up my research, drafting, and testing; it's a big part of how a one-person studio ships agency-grade work in a week for $2,500 instead of $15,000. What it never does is decide. I choose what goes on the page, the words come from your real reviews and your customers' language, and nothing launches until you've approved every line. You're paying for judgment about what makes a homeowner call — the tools just make it fast.
How long have you been doing this?
Beck Web Studio is new — that's exactly why the founding pricing exists. The craft isn't new: I've been building sites since before this was a business — my own company's, then owners who'd gotten stuck doing it themselves. And the model means you never take newness on faith: the draft is free, and the balance waits until you approve the finished site. Judge the work, not the years.
What happens if I cancel?
You get a complete export of your site, free — every file, no "buyout" fee, no hostage-taking. It runs on any standard host, and any freelancer can maintain it. Your domain was always in your name, so there's nothing to transfer. I'd rather earn the next month than lock you into it.
